Intermittent or random errors are the most difficult to figure out in any scenario. Hove you tried to run chkdsk on the the host (Computer -> Local Disk (or your name for c drive) -> Tools-> Check drive for errors ). Chose to check the sectors as well as the filesystem although this will take considerably longer.
Also use any freeware programs to check memory.
Can mostly guess in these situations.
